ABOUT THE ARTIST
As a young girl, I would sketch floorpans in a spiral bound notebook, and visualize how spaces would feel. I loved imagining how light would interact with the space and the influence it had on its inhabitants. A natural choice for me was a career in interior design and architecture.
After 15 years as a corporate interior designer, I came to a stunning conclusion: sitting behind a desk for hours on end, clicking a mouse left me drained and uninspired. I loved design, but missed being creative and experimenting. I missed having a voice in the work that was being created.
So, in 2020, after a layoff and at the height of the pandemic and in the middle of a divorce, I launched an art business. I had already been painting for a few years as a hobby, but saw the 'stillness' of the pandemic as an opportunity to share my voice more authentically.
ABOUT THE JOURNEY

Something new
2017
Having always been creative, I began experimenting with watercolor as a way to relieve stress and remain creative while working full-time. I started by painting iterations of watercolor gestures on 5x7 paper. Believe it or not, these paintings were some of the first on my website in 2018.

sharing my work
2018
Although I was still working full-time, sharing my work on Instagram brought amazing opportunities like invitations to exhibitions, and pop-up's. Here I am at a pop-up at West Elm at Ponce City Market.

everything to gain
2020
It was quite telling that I felt relief in being laid off in 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic and in the middle of going through a divorce. I had the time and the mental space to focus on what brought me joy and peace - which was painting. Here, my son took this picture of me at Framebridge, where I participated in their first Black Artist Print Shop.

resilience
2020
In the fall of 2020, I launched my very first collection, titled "Resilient Landscapes" in response to the global pandemic and racial tensions across America. Within a few days, my collection sold out! Excited and emotionally overwhelmed by the response, I knew a new career direction was possible.

on purpose
2021-now
I believe art has the innate ability to express what words can not. It is complete joy to express and create in a more authentic way and to share this work with my collectors.
I'd love for you to follow along on my journeyABOUT THE WORK
I am inspired by the seamless union of medium and language. While I love the delicate and transparent washes of water and color, I also enjoy the vibrant and tactile expressions of acrylic and oil. Through all mediums, however, I am searching to express the nuanced spectrum of vulnerabilities we share as humans. For the individual observer, I am hoping to invite a deeper level reflection and serenity.
