ARTIST STATEMENT
For me, painting is both a meditative process and an intuitive expression. I begin each painting with an idea connected to a narrative, feeling or emotion - seeking to make the intangible tangible. The interaction between water and color encourages gestures that are at times soft and quiet, other times, bold and vibrant. While I work primarily with watercolors, I embrace other mediums that allow me to express ideas more specifically and create compositions that are a result of the unpredictable interactions of watercolor. Mediums like graphite, oil and acrylic add visual texture and layers to the ethereal nature of watercolor. Each original work captures a moment in time, specific to my reflective nature.
ABOUT DAWN M TRIMBLE
Dawn M Trimble is a contemporary abstract artist and educator living in South Georgia. Her paintings, characterized by gestural movements of non-figurative compositions, align with a desire to convey the nuances of our human experience. Dawn works primarily with water-based media - getting lost in the meditative process that exists between water and color.
Drawing inspiration from a career in architecture and interior design as well as her faith, Dawn's paintings emerge from an intuitive process rooted in a curiosity about the media and subjects: color and water, media and the human experience.
Her paintings have been commissioned by interior designers, corporate offices as well as individual collectors. Dawn approaches her practice with the goal of creating meaningful work that invites reflection and evokes serenity within the space and the observer.
